Every time I’ve driven by here it is PACKED, so I knew it had to be good. This was my first time eating in, and I went with the recommendations of my waitress and WOW everything was so tasty. The veggie beef soup was so rich and flavorful. The fried apples were really tasty. The green beans were cooked in a beef broth I believe, and it added a lot of extra flavor to them. The fried chicken though? WOW. The best fried chicken I’ve had in a MINUTE. It was so juicy and the seasoning and crunch on it were perfect. The white gravy was also good and not too complex of a flavor to compete with the chicken, but gave a nice balance. Can’t wait to come back.
My first time there…I had heard so much about this restaurant. I see why they have so many customers….they give a plate full of food. I didn’t enjoy it at all. The grits were not good…the liver mush was too thick…it was creamy inside. The eggs were too thick. The pancake was too hard. I will never go back there. The waiter was great! The hash browns were too greasy. So, I left 98% of my food on the table.
I stopped by Sunflower Family Restaurant for the first time on a Friday during lunch hours, and it was such a pleasant experience. I started with a strawberry lemonade—super refreshing and flavorful (refills are only 25 cents!). The menu is extensive with tons of tempting options, so I asked my server for a recommendation. She suggested one of their most popular dishes: fried flounder with grits. I added a biscuit on the side, and everything was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and very down-home. It feels like a spot where locals gather, and I loved the friendly vibe. I also noticed Grecian flags around the restaurant, which made me think the owners might be Greek—a nice, unexpected touch of culture. I’ll definitely be back to try more items from the menu. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and looking for hearty, flavorful food with great service!
Omg! The food here is outstandingly delicious. The serving size is large so I took my leftovers with me. Parking is a challenge so prepare for that. This is a local hotspot and stay busy. But the food and service is worth every cheesy grit grain. Enjoy! And let me know which food was your favorite.
The food was delicious and the service was fast and friendly. Will definitely come back to try a few more things on the menu! I had the shrimp and grits with eggs and order a fish and egg sandwich to go!
